FWA Orlando's December 6 Event
IS HISTORICAL FICTION WRITING IN YOUR FUTURE?
On Wednesday, December 6, the Florida Writers Association Orlando Chapter hosts a presentation by award-winning historical fiction writer, Fredric Hitt.
Fredric Hitt practiced law in Central Florida and was elevated to the bench in 1985. He retired from active service in 2001, and now devotes his spare time to his first love, writing. His stories of the St. Johns River, its history, ecology and people, have been published in both internet and traditional magazines. WEKIVA WINTER, Hitt’s first novel, won the Florida Historical Society’s Patrick D. Smith Award for Best Florida Fiction of 2006.
If you’re interested in writing historical fiction, or in research for any kind of fiction, this event is for you. How much research does it take to write a historical novel? What comes first, the basic research, or the basic story idea? How does a writer convey the historical details and still keep the story fresh? That’s on the corner of Park and Webster, just north of the heart of downtown Winter Park. Come to the side entrance where you’ll see the long ramp.
